In 2002, the first Science Center Academy was organized in Technopolis: during this three-day seminar science center experts shared their precious experience and know-how on setting up and expanding centres with participants from fledgling institutions throughout the world.

The idea of organizing such a seminar sprang from the repeated requests that Technopolis received for advice and assistance in preparing, setting up and running science centres.

In view of the success of the first Academy, the initiative was repeated in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2009.
