RAPs or ‘Roundtables for Advancing the Professions’ are organised by and for members of the international association of science centres, ASTC. In June 2004 Technopolis organised the first RAP in Europe.

RAPs offer science centre and science museum staff an opportunity to spend a few days exchanging ideas and experience on a particular topic. They succeed in expanding their knowledge by learning from one another through lectures, workshops, performances and brains trusts.

The subjects of RAPs are diverse but nevertheless very specific to the sector. For most participants they are also a unique chance to spend a few days developing their skills in the field in which they are engaged from day to day – all the more so because there are frequently no courses available for refining these particular professional activities.
