Feasting on the future
Tasty, healthy and good for nature too? It’s possible! Think 3D-printed carrots, brewery waste or delicious crunchy crickets. In Biotopia, you will discover how we can be kind to ourselves and nature by eating and producing differently. Does that sound utopian? Maybe our packs from the future will change your mind.
Growing cities
Green cities in complete harmony with nature? Never say never. As you walk through Biotopia, you’ll discover, among other things, the importance of green energy and how we can learn one or two lessons in sustainable building from termites. Be sure to have a go at building green cities yourself (digitally).
Technology in bloom
It’s amazing what we can learn from other organisms! From new forms of housing and advanced sun creams to food crops protected against drought or disease, nature is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. But are there also limits? And do all the innovations in Biotopia really exist? Can you guess which ones are made up?
With a touch of nature
What would Biotopia be without some flora here and there? You’ll find plants that are inspiring us to develop new materials (such as lady’s mantle), change our eating habits (such as the Belgian chickpea) and find solutions against drought, disease or heat (such as thale cress).
In a nutshell
Watching, reading and thinking
Biotopia isn’t a typical Technopolis exhibition. You won’t be jumping, cycling or running here, but you’ll be stimulating your brain all the more. Enjoy the chance to reflect quietly on the relationship between humans and nature and how we need each other.
With thanks to SPARKOH!
This exhibition is a reworking of Nature 2.0, an exhibition that previously thrilled numerous visitors at SPARKOH! Are you a fan of Technopolis and all things science? If so, you’ll definitely find it worth popping into SPARKOH! in Mons.
